Digital Cameras

Choosing the right camera for yourself from a vast variety available in the market, is not an easy task. Before buying one, you need to list down your needs and priorities.

If you are a serious photographer or photography is your profession, you may want to buy a high quality DSLR camera. If you want to shoot videos, as well as take photos; you need to look for models which are good for both purposes. Some may opt for a compact camera with good picture quality.

Following are the few important aspects one should take into consideration before buying a camera.

Resolution

One of the most important aspects of a camera is the picture quality. Higher resolution allows for better images, but these higher resolution images take much more storage space. Good digital cameras let you specify the resolution you’d like before you take the photo, and the resolution you choose will depend on what you intend to do with the photos. If you want to learn photography, look for a camera that lets you play with as many image settings as possible.

Features

All modern cameras offer basic features, like image stabilization, red eye reduction and a self timer. More unique features, like HD video quality and continuous shooting speed offer you more flexibility with your camera. Serious photographers will consider zoom length, sensor quality, lenses type, view finder etc. Some of the cameras also come with built-in wi-fi and GPS.

Battery Life/Storage

Most cameras use lithium ion rechargeable battery packs. While they offer greater battery life than readily available AA — size batteries, they are generally designed for a specific make or model of camera. There are models using AA batteries, but they’re usually lower-end compacts and larger mega-zoom cameras. When buying a camera, check out how many shots its battery can take before recharging.
